Reproductive Psychology
Reproductive Psychology
Reproductive psychology is a field of health psychology which includes the emotional and psychological aspects related to human reproduction. Fertility counseling is an important component of this field, guiding couples and individuals through the many challenges they may face. Infertility affects approximately 11% of the reproductive age population and affects both men and women equally. The inability to conceive is one of the most stressful life events a couple or individual may experience. There is a rollercoaster of emotions associated with infertility but at times, these emotions can become quite overwhelming and professional counseling is encouraged. Common psychological effects include depression, anxiety, isolation, guilt, anger and loss. I provide fertility counseling for individuals experiencing infertility or for those considering or undergoing assisted reproductive technology (ART). I also provide assessments when needed for third party reproduction.
